IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Project Context and Scope: The project "Labour Migration Programme - Central Asia" funded by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation supports skills development in Uzbekistan, with a focus on enhancing employability and providing practical training to Monocenter Trainers in mechatronics. Mechatronics is a crucial skill across various industries, offering significant employment opportunities both locally and abroad. The project aims to bridge skill gaps by delivering foundational and advanced mechantronic skills training, thereby improving the livelihoods of trainers and ensuring their reintegration into the workforce.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) collaborates with governments and stakeholders to create harmonized orientation programmes throughout the labour migration cycle. These programmes address the information needs of prospective, outbound, current, and returning migrant workers, promoting well-informed decision-making, fostering healthy expectations, and assisting in skill development.
The Labour Migration Programme - Central Asia contributes to strengthening skills development in Uzbekistan. By providing comprehensive training in mechatronics, the project supports economic development and empowers workers to navigate future opportunities effectively.
The Consultant will report directly to the Senior Programme Assistant/Uzbekistan Country Coordinator and will also receive guidance from IOM Uzbekistan.
Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing: IOM Uzbekistan
1. Category B Consultants: Tasks to be performed under this contract – under the direct supervision of LMD Senior Programme Assistant as well as overall coordination from the Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion Unit of IOM Uzbekistan.

- Engage with stakeholders (including Monocenters and the Agency for External Labour Migration (AELM) of the Republic of Uzbekistan) to understand specific needs for mechatronics training in Uzbekistan.
- Review existing mechatronics curricula and standards to ensure the module aligns with international best practices;
- Develop a comprehensive mechatronics training module tailored to the needs of migrants;
- Creation of a structured curriculum that outlines learning objectives, course modules, theoretical knowledge and practical skills in mechatronics;
- Create a modular, competency-based curriculum covering foundational and advanced mechatronics techniques, safety, and equipment handling.
- Incorporate theoretical and practical components, ensuring hands-on experience is emphasized.
- Design learning materials, including manuals, lesson plans, presentations, and assessment tools for trainers.
- Conduct training using the developed training module with a appointed group of Monocenter Trainers to test its effectiveness.
- Collect feedback from Trainers and AELM and refine the module as necessary to address any gaps or challenges identified during the training.
- Submit the final training module incorporating all revisions, including trainer and participant guides, manuals, presentations, and evaluation tools.
- Provide a detailed report on the module's development, piloting process, and any recommendations.

Overview of deliverables:
First deliverable – Deliverable by 15 October 2024: Assess the module needs
Second deliverable – Deliverable by 15 November 2024: Comprehensive Mechatronics Training Module, including:
a. Trainer's guide and detailed lesson plans.
b. Participant manuals and guides.
c. Practical mechatronics exercises and safety protocols.
Third deliverable- Deliverable by 15 December 2024:
- Pilot Training Report with feedback and suggested improvements.
- Final training module and materials.
2. Performance indicators for the evaluation of results
- Develop a comprehensive mechatronics training module tailored to the needs of migrants;
- Deliver the draft of the module to the training participants to receive feedback on the effectiveness of the module;
- Provide final report on the work done including outcomes and recommendations for future implementation.

Professional requirements 1. Education, Experience and/or skills required
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field;
• Experience in designing and developing educational content or curriculam, preferably in technical subjects;
• Practical experience in mechatronics or related fields to ensure the content is relevant and up-to-date;
• Strong understanding of mechatronics processes, techniques, and industry standards;
