The government of Uzbekistan receives funds from the Asian Development Bank (ADB Group) for the implementation of the "Integrated Urban Development" project under Loan 4230-UZB. Based on the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 7, 2020. No. 426 "On measures for the implementation of the project "Financing the preparation of urban development projects in the Republic of Uzbekistan" the cities of Yangiyer and Khavast (Syrdarya region), Jizzakh (Jizzakh region) and Khiva (Khorezm region) of the Republic of Uzbekistan were identified as pilot cities within the framework of this project is aimed at comprehensively improving and increasing the efficiency of urban infrastructure management, ensuring the availability of services for the population of medium-sized cities, as well as strengthening the capacity of local governments by introducing modern technical, financial and management tools into their activities.
In accordance with the Loan Agreement 4230-UZB , the Executive Agency responsible for the timely implementation of the project, as well as the target and efficient use of the ADB loan, is the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which is responsible for the general coordination of projects, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and assistance on purchases, financial management and solving the most difficult technical issues. In order to implement the project at the national level, the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) was officially created under the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade (MIIT) to coordinate and implement the project in accordance with its goals and the plan, with acceptable quality, within the established time limits and as part of the budget. The PIU is mainly responsible for supervision of all aspects of the project and the work of other institutions and participating municipalities participating in the project, as well as for ensuring compliance with the management principles of the bank. |
