Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is announcing an opening for the position of Communication and youth engagement manager in the EU-funded project "Empowering Civil Society for Inclusive Community Development in Uzbekistan". The project starts on 1st of February 2025 for an overall duration of 24 months.
The European Union (EU) funded project "Empowering Civil Society for Inclusive Community Development in Uzbekistan" aims at enhancing civil, political, social, economic, and cultural rights in Uzbekistan while empowering local CSOs to promote youth inclusion, gender equality, media literacy, and environmental sustainability. The project is implemented by the Consortium led by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in cooperation with Yuksalish.
Description of the position:
A part-time Communication and Youth Engagement Manager is responsible for the project's communication strategy to raise awareness, engage youth audiences, and promote project activities, such as developing and implementing communication materials and strategies (e.g., press releases, social media content, website updates), Engaging with media and building relationships with relevant stakeholders, Designing and conducting youth-focused workshops, events, and initiatives, Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of communication and youth engagement efforts.
The position is hybrid with possibility to work remotely or be based in the project's office in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and will report to the Project Coordinator, Project Director and backstopping offices in Berlin and Brussels. The duration of the position corresponds to twenty-four (24) months – February 1, 2025 – January 31, 2027.
Duties and responsibilities:
-Developing and executing the PR strategy for the project to enhance its visibility and impact; -Identifying target audiences, formulating key messages, selecting appropriate communication channels, and ensuring their effective delivery; -Creating and managing PR products such as the project website, social media pages (e.g., Facebook), annual reports, booklets, brochures, and other informational materials to spread awareness about the project; -Developing and producing high-quality press kits, including press releases, media information, and other materials to promote the project; -Promoting a positive corporate and public image of the organization through consistent use of branding elements (e.g., logo, colors); -Organizing special events and activities for different target groups to present the project and its objectives; -Coordinating and planning interviews for the project's executive board to ensure effective communication with key stakeholders; -Planning TV and radio broadcasts within the project and facilitating media coverage through articles in printed and electronic media; -Collaborating with project managers to ensure timely and effective communication with the target audience and alignment with overall project goals; -Participating in planning activities and events to ensure compliance with EU visibility guidelines; -Creating and managing both electronic and printed PR materials for the project, ensuring consistent messaging and brand representation; -Monitoring media coverage and keeping reports to evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts and make necessary adjustments; -Designing and conducting youth-focused workshops, events, and initiatives to engage young people and encourage active participation in the project; -Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of communication and youth engagement activities. |

Professional requirements |
-At least 8 years of work experience in developing and implementing communication campaigns and PR strategies for the public or private clients, governments or international institutions -At least 3 years of working experience in conducting communication campaigns and organising the logistics for high-profile and/or sensitive events and initiatives (conferences, seminars, workshops, etc.)in the field of development cooperation, research sector or supporting civil society development; -A minimum of 3 years of experience in working with youth in Central Asia region, organising and managing youth networks, preparing various youth capacity building activities; -University degree or equivalent professional/higher education in communication, public relations or other relevant discipline; -In absence of a university degree, relevant professional experience of at least 5 years to be added to the required general professional experience; -Excellent knowledge of political and socio-economic development of Uzbekistan; -Experience with donor-funded programmes as the EU or EU Member States (BMZ etc); -Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Russian ; (knowing German and / or Uzbek language will be an asset) -Experience with Microsoft Office; -Strong commitment to human rights and democratisation processes demonstrated by professional experience; -Ability to respond effectively to time sensitive demands & inquiries; -Excellent organizational skills with a willingness to take initiative and be proactive. -Consistently fosters a culture of collaboration and supports team goals. |
