The Communications and PR officer is expected to perform the following tasks:
•Development of a state-of-the art communication strategy for the project in close cooperation with the Embassy of Switzerland in Uzbekistan •Effectively implementing the communication strategy to ensure strong visibility of the project, complying with the requirements of the Embassy of Switzerland in Uzbekistan. •Synthesis, editing and adapting technical material for different target groups in various formats (written, film, presentations etc) and languages (English, Uzbek, Russian). This will be undertaken by own initiative, and where required, with professional communication or media firms that specialize in specific fields where in-house expertise is not available. •Preparation of electronic materials for posts on relevant websites and social media in adherence to Caritas Switzerland and the Embassy of Switzerland guidelines for external communication. |

The Communications and PR Officer will lead on communications and PR for the ZRB project. She/he will be responsible for development of a state-of-the art communication strategy for the project, in close cooperation with the Embassy of Switzerland in Uzbekistan and implementation of the strategy with project consortium members and national partners as well as communication with Communication units of key line ministries via facilitation of Country Consortium Representative.
Key attributes for the position: •Bachelor's degree in communication, mass-media, public relations, journalism, media marketing or similar is required. Master's degree in communication and PR will be considered an advantage. •A minimum of 5 years' professional experience. At least 3 years of professional experience within an international organization will be considered an advantage. •Ability and experience to create messages in a variety of formats (press release, websites, success stories, blog posts, Twitter, etc.) aimed at different audiences. •Experience in working with a network of mass media and journalists, with membership in relevant professional associations in Uzbekistan. •Familiarity with website development is an advantage. •Proficient verbal and written skills in Uzbek and Russian, with excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken). •Excellent interpersonal skills and a constant approach to work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude. •Thematic knowledge in areas related to climate change, water management, ecology, agriculture, and disaster risk reduction (DRR) or related fields will be highly valued. |

Remuneration:
Competitive with salary scales for (national) position in Uzbekistan commensurate with skill sets and experience. In adhering to national laws and tax code, salaries will be paid and transferred in Uzbek Soums. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply for this position. |

Caritas Switzerland (www.caritas.ch) is a Swiss NGO founded in 1901 with its headquarters in Lucerne, Switzerland. In summer 2022, a consortium of Caritas Switzerland (lead) and the Central Asia Regional Environmental Center (CAREC) was awarded a 12-year mandate from the Government of Switzerland, acting through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Swiss Embassy in Tashkent. The mandate aims to address persistent challenges to sustainable and equitable management of water resources in the Zarafshan River Basin (ZRB), considering changing socio-economic and climate conditions. After an extended inception phase (August 2022 to May 2023), the mandate entered its first implementation phase in June 2023, which will continue until April 2027. The following second and third phases will extend into 2033, based on tangible progress and realization of desired outcomes.
The Branch of Caritas Switzerland (CACH) in Uzbekistan seeks a suitable candidate for the position of Communication and PR officer for the remainder of the ongoing first phase until April 2027, with an option to extend the contract into subsequent phases based on funding availability.
