Duties |
Health & Safety Oversight Develop and manage the school's Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) in accordance with local laws and international school standards (e.g., OSHA, NEASC, CIS). Conduct scheduled safety audits of all facilities including classrooms, playgrounds, laboratories, athletic areas, and kitchen spaces. Establish and enforce hygiene and sanitation protocols throughout the school, including cleaning schedules, chemical safety, and indoor air quality standards. Lead school-wide emergency preparedness, first aid training, and response coordination.
Cafeteria and Food Safety Management Oversee health, hygiene, and sanitation compliance in school cafeteria operations. Ensure food handling, storage, preparation, and service meet international food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, ServSafe) and local public health codes. Conduct regular inspections and monitor corrective actions for any identified food safety risks. Coordinate training for cafeteria staff on hygiene practices, allergen control, and contamination prevention. Monitor nutritional compliance and support allergy-sensitive food protocols in collaboration with nursing and educational staff.
Environmental and Sustainability Practices Develop environmental compliance strategies addressing waste management, recycling, chemical use, and energy conservation. Promote sustainable operations in facilities and cafeteria services, including waste reduction, composting, and environmentally responsible sourcing. Support environmental awareness campaigns and community involvement in sustainability efforts. Compliance and Training Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, permits, licenses, and staff certifications. Monitor contractor compliance with safety and environmental regulations during repairs, maintenance, and service delivery. Deliver mandatory HSE training to staff and contractors, including hygiene, fire safety, chemical handling, and emergency procedures. Maintain updated records of safety data sheets (SDS) and ensure proper usage of all cleaning and food preparation chemicals. Facilities Coordination Collaborate with the Facilities and Operations team to ensure ventilation, pest control, and water systems support a safe and hygienic environment. Serve as the primary liaison with local health authorities, fire department, and environmental regulators. |

*UBachelor's degree in Business Management, Environmental Health, Public Health, Occupational Safety, or a related field. *Additional HSE certifications preferred (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA). *Professional certification in Food Safety required (e.g., HACCP, ServSafe). *Minimum 5 years of experience in HSE roles, preferably in schools, healthcare, hospitality, or institutional food service. *Fluency in English *Demonstrated experience managing food safety programs and health compliance in operational settings |
