| Duties | The Research Assistant will be responsible for the following: a) Research Support ● Support the design and implementation of research projects, including experimental and quasi-experimental evaluations; ● Assist in the development of research protocols, survey instruments, and data collection tools; ● Contribute to drafting ethics review submissions and research documentation; ● Conduct literature reviews and synthesize evidence relevant to ongoing projects; ● Support stakeholder interviews and consultations with NASP departments and other partners; ● Assist in identifying promising policy questions for evaluation. b) Data Collection and Fieldwork Support ● Assist in preparation and piloting of survey instruments; ● Support coordination with field teams during data collection; ● Participate in enumerator training and supervision when needed; ● Monitor data quality and flag inconsistencies; ● Help document fieldwork processes and lessons learned. c) Data Analysis and Research Outputs ● Conduct quantitative data analysis using R/Stata/Python; ● Clean and manage datasets under supervision; ● Assist in interpretation of findings; ● Contribute to drafting policy briefs, presentations, reports, and academic outputs; ● Support preparation of dissemination materials. d) Coordination ● Coordinate with SPLab, J-PAL Europe, and NASP departments on research-related activities; ● Support communication between research partners; ● Maintain organized documentation of research activities and datasets. IV. EXPECTED DELIVERABLES The Research Assistant will be expected to deliver the following outputs in a timely manner and in accordance with established research quality standards: ● High-quality literature reviews and evidence summaries that synthesize key findings and clearly identify relevance to assigned research projects; ● Draft survey instruments, questionnaires, and research protocols that are logically structured, internally consistent, and aligned with research objectives; ● Cleaned, well-documented datasets, including codebooks and replication files, prepared using transparent data management procedures; ● Reproducible data analysis outputs (tables, graphs, regression results) produced using R/Stata/Python and supported by clearly documented analytical scripts; ● Contributions to draft policy briefs, presentations, technical reports, and academic outputs that translate analytical findings into clear and actionable insights; ● Fieldwork documentation reports, including data quality checks, monitoring summaries, and identification of inconsistencies where applicable; ● Stakeholder interview summaries and analytical memos that accurately reflect discussions and emerging insights; ● Organized research documentation and properly version-controlled files to ensure traceability and reproducibility of analytical work. ● . All deliverables must meet agreed quality standards and timelines. The number and frequency of deliverables will be agreed upon with the supervisor based on the research plans. The Research Assistant is responsible for technical and analytical tasks. Administrative coordination, procurement processing, and logistical arrangements are handled by the Administrative Assistant. |

| Professional requirements | REQUIREMENTS TO RESEARCH ASSISTANT'S QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: ● Master's degree in Economics, Public Policy, Statistics, or related social science field preferred. Bachelor's degree with strong quantitative background may be considered. EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: ● At least 1 year of relevant research experience (academic or applied); Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ● Proficiency in R/Stata/Python is required; ● Experience working with survey data is an asset; Basic familiarity with impact evaluation methodologies (RCTs or quasi-experimental methods) is a strong plus; ● Experience conducting literature reviews and preparing research summaries; ● Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines; ● Strong written and verbal communication skills; ● Demonstrated knowledge of research ethics, personal data protection standards and safeguarding principles. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: ● Fluency in English (written and oral); ● Working knowledge of Uzbek is preferred. |

| Additional information: | The contract duration will align with the operational period of the Research Accelerator – 18 months, subject to extension based on satisfactory performance and project needs. The position is full-time and based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Research Assistant may be required to undertake local travel within Uzbekistan, up to 8 trips during the contract period, each with a duration of up to one week. |
