Duties The Design Teaching Assistant / Technician's principal duties involve working with Design teachers and taking responsibility for the following:

*Team-teaching the skills needed to safely use tools and equipment in the department (e.g., sewing machines, CAD, hand tools, and woodworking machines) in the classroom and workshop.
*Ensuring that safety protocols are understood and adhered to in the Design workshop.
*Proactively planning, in coordination with the Head of Department (HOD) and Design teachers, for all MYP Design students to receive timely safety training on specific workshop equipment such as disc and belt sanders (starting Grade 7), drill-press (starting Grade 7), and scroll saws (starting Grade 8).
*Setting up and maintaining an ongoing Safety Instructions Log for all MYP Design students.
*Immediately providing first aid and reporting to the teacher in case of any safety incidents or emergencies.
*Monitoring and maintaining the Design rooms (classrooms and workshop) to ensure they are clean and tidy on a regular basis.
*Preparing teaching resources and materials for lessons upon request from teachers.
*Carrying out first-line servicing of machines, tools, and equipment in the Design rooms, and coordinating specialist assistance when necessary to ensure equipment is in good working order.
*Demonstrating good health and safety practice at all times when using equipment and instructing students.
*Creating displays and setting up for school events (e.g., Design Science Fair Night, Arts in the Park, Open House) upon request from teachers, and ensuring items are returned in good condition.
*Manufacturing storage units for tools and equipment as needed.
*Locating and ordering materials and equipment necessary for the department via the TIS purchase procedure.
*Setting up and maintaining an ongoing inventory of tools, equipment, and stock records within the department, informing the Head of Department (HOD) of shortages for yearly international ordering.
*Participating in department meetings and promptly acting on relevant decisions.
*Adhering, at all times, to TIS Learning Principles, Teachers Standards, and TIS Child Protection Policy.
*Undergoing safety training and/or safety knowledge assessments at host country institutions in compliance with applicable legal requirements.

Additionally, the Design Assistant / Technician will:
*Work flexible hours outside the normal school day/time with advance notice and agreement from Design teachers.
*Perform duties related to the supervision of students in the duty schedule.
*Assist with running the After School Activities (CCAs) program.
*Coordinate with maintenance and Tech support staff to report needed repairs and inform the Design HOD.
*Be willing to receive training on equipment when necessary.
*Report Health & Safety Hazards as they arise to appropriate staff and inform the Design HOD/SAC.
*Ensure that equipment and rooms are locked and secured when not in use.
*Possess knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology).
*Perform substitution throughout the school as needed.

Language level:
*English: Must have a good level of communication skills (written, spoken, and comprehension).
*Russian and/or Uzbek would be desirable, with a good level of communication skills (written, spoken, and comprehension).
*Possess passion and proven experience in working with both product and digital Design.
*Possession of or aptitude to obtain certification in the relevant field
