The British Embassy in Uzbekistan is part of the worldwide UK diplomatic network working on behalf of British political, economic and consular interests overseas, and is now seeking to recruit an IT and Corporate Services (CSO) Support Officer to support its Technology, Information and Digital Transformation Department.

Main purpose of job:

This hybrid IT Support led position combines responsibilities of IT Support Officer (ITSO), and Corporate Services Officer (CSO). You will be responsible for providing day to day IT support to staff, maintaining the Embassy's IT infrastructure (including servers and back up locations), ensuring IT security compliance, coordinating with the central IT hub (IDD) on updates and technical guidance, and monitoring telephony-related matters.

You will also be expected to work seamlessly with the Corporate Services team with its wider objectives and contribute to good information management practices as part of their wider corporate responsibilities.
Roles and responsibilities:

-IT Support Officer (ITSO) - 70%:

Provide day to day technical support to staff, resolving hardware, software and connectivity issues;
Install, configure, and maintain IT equipment (laptops, desktops, printers, phones, network devices);
Monitor and maintain Embassy IT systems, including two live servers and crisis backup sites;
Maintain up to date records of IT inventory and ensure secure storage and handling;
Ensure compliance with IT security standards, including regular system checks and access controls;
Act as the main point of contact for IDD and other respective departments on IT and telephony issues;
Coordinate with IDD to implement updates, security patches, and central guidance;
Lead on local rollout of global IT and telephony initiatives and participate in pilot projects as needed;
Lead on procurement of IT hardware and software, ensuring value for money and compliance;
Deliver user training sessions on IT tools, security awareness, and self-service platforms;
Keep Embassy senior management informed on IT issues, risks, and key updates.
-Corporate Services Officer (CSO) - 25%:

Assist with local procurement processes, including gathering quotes and preparing tendering documents;
Support the processing of supplier payments in coordination with the Finance Officer;
Help to streamline procurement and financial record keeping by digitalising the processes in line with FCDO policy;
Communicate with Department of Diplomatic Services (DDS) and other local Governmental Institutes;
Provide general administrative support across the Corporate Services section supporting the delivery of general administrative tasks as needed.
-Information Management Officer (IMO) - 5%:

Maintain the Embassy's Information Asset Register (IAR);
Brief new staff on Embassy's MS Teams filling structure and information management policies;
Promote best practices for file naming, storage, document sharing, support information, records management, consistent document naming and storage habits;
Coordinate a short monthly update during All Staff meetings on Information management;
Raise awareness of digital record-keeping and disseminate best practice and compliance requirements from the centre.

Professional requirements Our ideal Candidate shows:

Proven experience in providing IT support, troubleshooting, or a related technical role;
Fluency at C1 level in English, and either Uzbek or Russian (according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages*) verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical matters clearly to non-technical users;
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, etc.);
Solid foundational knowledge of IT infrastructure, including the ability to support and coordinate on networks, servers, and end user devices;
Good organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively;
Ability to work independently, use initiative, and deliver at pace under balanced supervision;
Excellent attention to detail and proactive, problem-solving approach;
Willingness to take on a diverse range of tasks and contribute across different functions;
Comfortable handling sensitive information with discretion and integrity;
Understanding and applying information security policies and procedures;
Spotting anomalies or risks in data or systems.
Nice to have:

Experience with telephony systems and mobile phone settings management;
Experience working in an international or diplomatic environment;
Ability to deliver user training or create simple user guides and support materials;
Understanding of information and records management principles (e.g. document naming, file structures, access control).

Additional information: his is a part-time, permanent contract for 32 working hours gross per week.
