| Duties | Essential Duties and Responsibilities: *Make successful student learning the central consideration in all aspects of decision making *Communicate and model the kinds of behaviors and relationships required to succeed at TIS *Take on the role of Teaching Assistant, Teacher or other staff member as required *Work collaboratively with Elementary Assistant for daily cover needs *Cover the role of Elementary Assistant as required *Assist with regular lessons and learning activities using different collaborative models *Communicate clearly and accurately with students *Assist individual students as needed *Support student growth and independence *Demonstrate careful preparation of instructional materials *Assist in preparing displays of student work *Assist in the maintenance of the classroom organization *Stock taking, helping maintain an up to date inventory of classroom materials *Check student work that is assigned by the teacher *Show professionalism and good rapport in working with the partner teacher and the students *Execute tasks given by the teacher in a timely and accurate manner *Take initiative, learn quickly, and not require constant direction *Work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a professional team *Continually seek to improve own practice, including through observation, examination and discussion with colleagues *Use behavior management strategies in line with the school's policy and procedures which contribute to a purposeful learning environment *Build and maintain successful relationships with students, treating them consistently, with respect and consideration and to be concerned for their development as learners |
