For more information, visit www.worldbank.org Country and Position Context The Government of Uzbekistan launched in 2017 an ambitious program of market-oriented reforms that are unprecedented in the country's modern history. The new Government's National Development Strategy for 2022-26 aims at transforming the country by further liberalizing the economy, reshaping the role of the state in the economy, modernizing the agriculture sector, strengthening governance, creating markets, including in the financial services, enabling private sector growth, investing in human capital, and improving social protection and service delivery for all citizens. The country's reform momentum has also created new opportunities for regional cooperation in Central Asia, including in energy, transport, water, and economic connectivity. The WBG program responds to the Government's broadened reform agenda. A new Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for FY22-26 was endorsed in May 2022 and supports Uzbekistan as it implements the next phase of reforms in its transition toward an inclusive and sustainable market economy and the achievement of the national development strategy twin goals of upper-middle-income status and poverty reduction by 2030. The CPF focuses on 10 CPF objectives that will underpin 3 high-level objectives necessary to achieve Uzbekistan's 2030 aspirations: increase private sector employment, improve human capital, and improve livelihoods and resilience through greener growth. The Uzbekistan portfolio comprises 25 projects with net commitments totaling $4.26B in Agriculture, Energy, Water, Urban Development, Digital Inclusion, Transport, Education, Health, Social Protection, Social Development, and Macroeconomic Reforms. This makes the World Bank financed program in Uzbekistan one of the largest in the ECA region.
The World Bank Office in Uzbekistan is looking for a highly organized, energized and experienced person capable of operating effectively in a very demanding fast-paced environment, to serve as a Receptionist with an expanded function of an Administrative Assistant, providing administrative support to the Uzbekistan Country Office. https://www.worldbank.org/en/country/uzbekistan
Responsibilities: • Answer and properly transfer incoming telephone calls; • Meet office visitors and connect with relevant staff; • Keep staff telephone list (personal, mobile & office extension numbers) up-to-date and assist staff to find needed contacts and addresses; • Register, log and distribute incoming correspondence; • Coordinate registration/ scanning of outgoing letters with Program Assistants; • Monitor timely responses by the task teams to the incoming correspondence; for that purpose maintain tracking system of incoming correspondence; • Coordinate distribution of outgoing letters with courier; • Distribute to staff a schedule of upcoming missions weekly; • Prepare letters in required languages on different administrative subjects addressed to the World Bank office administration, to the State Customs offices and other administrative offices or vendors; • File hard copies of all incoming letters and control outgoing filing; • Be of help on ad-hoc requests like calling a taxi for visiting mission members; • Scan documents and send to relevant staff as requested; • Maintain diplomatic pouch registration and shipment, and prepare charge backs for pouch shipment from the office; • Order stationary supplies for the office based on current needs; • Keep track of conference room usage; • Help other assistants on ad-hoc basis to draft routine correspondence, use word processing skills to produce complex text, reports, figures, graphs, etc., according to standard Bank formats and distribution; • Assist the country management unit by translating ad hoc documents on a selective basis, applying effective proofreading and grammar proofing in English and Russian languages; • Assist staff in preparation and logistical planning (including catering services' ordering) for office events, e.g. conferences, workshops, negotiations, etc.; • Perform basic clerical tasks, such as file searching in the reception records, operate standard office equipment as required for the functioning of office reception. • Ensure that a staff member is present at the Reception desk at all times during office hours; • Performs ad hoc other duties as requested by Executive Assistant and Country Management Unit's operational staff. |

• Technology and systems knowledge - Demonstrates advanced knowledge and experience working with Microsoft office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.). Has ability and willingness to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology. • Project and task management - Exhibits good organizational, problem-solving, analytical skills and ability to work competently with minimal supervision. Demonstrates attention to detail and quality. Has ability to manage multiple tasks and complete tasks within agreed schedule. • Versatility and adaptability - Demonstrates flexibility and is receptive to the implementation of new solutions. Is willing to stretch own capability. Demonstrates motivation to avail and adapt oneself to effecting change. • Client Orientation (ACS) - Exhibits good communication skills, positive and professional client service attitude; is able to understand clients' needs and complete them professionally. • Learning, knowledge sharing and communication (ACS) - Has good knowledge of official unit's language(s). Able to write clearly, edit and proofread draft communications. Able to learn and share knowledge/information across the unit. • Business judgment and analytical decision making (ACS) - Able to manage information and support retention and disposition of information and records. Can search, report, and deliver basic information from various sources and independently respond to basic inquiries. • Drive for Results - Able to take personal ownership and accountability to meet deadlines and achieve agreed-upon results and has the personal organization to do so. • Teamwork (Collaboration) and Inclusion - Collaborates with other team members and contributes productively to the team's work and output, demonstrating respect for different points of view.
Other Selection Criteria:
• Minimum bachelor's degree diploma and at least 2 years of relevant experience. • Strong English and Russian language skills (verbal and written). Uzbek language skills would be an advantage. • Previous experience with an international organization is an advantage. |
