| Additional information: | The Uzbekistan Resilient Landscapes Restoration Project (RESILAND) aims to increase the area under sustainable landscape management in selected locations in Uzbekistan and promote collaboration with Central Asia countries on transboundary landscape restoration. The project focuses on tree-based restoration practices on State Forest Fund (SFF) land in landscapes within six defined transboundary corridors. The project will be implemented within six transboundary corridors spanning across degraded border areas in Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya, Samarkand, Jizzakh, Syrdarya, and Namangan provinces. These corridors were selected based on land degradation status, poverty incidence, inclusion of SFF lands, location within transboundary watersheds, existence of key biodiversity areas and protected areas, and proximity to key infrastructure and nature-based tourism sites. Sub-component 3.2 of the RESILAND Project aims to enhance nature-based tourism (NBT) in Uzbekistan by improving infrastructure and services at ecologically sensitive sites. The focus is on developing low-impact tourism infrastructure and engaging local communities, especially women, in tourism-related economic activities across selected corridors. |
