Project Context and Scope: The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is supporting the Government of Uzbekistan in promoting safe and orderly migration through preparation, capacity building, and reintegration services. Under the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)-funded "Labour Migration Programme – Central Asia" within this framework, the IOM provides support to multiple governmental partners.
Given the growing scope of IOM's support to Uzbekistan's labour migration, the project team produces a range of informational and outreach materials in local languages for migrants, stakeholders, and the general public. To ensure accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and accessibility, high-quality translation and proofreading services are required—helping to align IOM's support with government priorities and reduce miscommunication risks.
Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing: Labour Mobility Division (LMD)
Category B Consultants: Tasks to be performed under this contract – under the direct supervision of Chief of Mission (CoM) and overall coordination from the Head of Units: -Translating various migration-related materials from English/Russian to Uzbek language. -Proofreading and editing translated texts to ensure they are grammatically correct, contextually appropriate, and consistent in tone and terminology. -Adhering to terminology and language guidelines provided by the organization. -Ensuring delivery of high-quality, ready-to-publish content within agreed deadlines. -Incorporating feedback and suggested revisions from the project team. -Participate and/or initiate meetings with the IOM, to discuss specific peculiarities of migration and counter−trafficking subjects, aiming to ensure good understanding of the topic, if needed. -Participate and/or initiate meeting(s) with IOM to discuss specific peculiarities of set subjects, aiming to ensure good understanding of the topic, if needed;

Professional requirements |
Education, Experience, and/or Skills Required: -Bachelor's degree in communications, international relations, public administration, translation studies, political science, or a related field. -At least 3 years of work experience in written translation services -Proven experience in professional translation and proofreading, preferably within the migration, development, or human rights sectors. -Familiarity with labour migration, mobility programs, or development cooperation is a strong asset. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Uzbek, English and Russian -Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with c visual content tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) is an advantage.
