Purpose of consultancy:
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Uzbekistan is committed to advancing gender equality, preventing and responding to gender-based violence, and promoting gender equality and women's empowerment (GEWE) as part of its mandate. To support these efforts, UNFPA seeks to establish a roster of qualified consultants with expertise in gender, GBV prevention and response, and GEWE. The objective of this consultancy is to establish a roster of qualified consultants to provide technical assistance, capacity building, and advisory services to support UNFPA's gender-related initiatives in Uzbekistan.
Scope of work:
Provide technical assistance and expertise in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of gender-sensitive programs and interventions. Contribute to reviewing existing standards, protocols on GBV services, conducting, assessments, research, and analysis on gender issues, GBV prevalence, social norm change initiatives, etc. Develop and deliver training workshops, capacity building sessions, and awareness-raising activities on gender, GBV prevention and response, men engage activities and GEWE for partners, stakeholders, CSOs, media etc. Support the development and implementation of GBV prevention and response strategies, including the establishment of referral pathways and the strengthening of GBV survivor support services. Provide advisory services and technical support to government counterparts, civil society organizations, and other partners on integrating gender considerations into policies, programs, and services. Contribute to knowledge management and sharing by documenting best practices, lessons learned, and success stories in gender programming and GBV prevention and response. Any other tasks related to gender, GBV prevention and response, and GEWE as assigned by UNFPA.
Duration and working schedule: Consultant will be included into the Roster of gender experts.

Professional requirements |
An advanced degree in gender studies, social sciences, public health, law, international development, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in gender, social science, psychology, law, development, or project management.
Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and evaluating gender-sensitive programs and interventions.
Experience in conducting assessments, research, and analysis on social issues, particularly gender-related topics.
Proven ability to develop and deliver training workshops, capacity building sessions, and awareness-raising activities.
Demonstrate understanding of survivor-centred approach.
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, with team members based in other countries/organizations.
Able to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment and under pressure.
Able to work with different stakeholders from government institutions, international organizations, academia and NGOs, and the affected communities.
Proven expertise in relevant areas such as preventing and responding to gender based violence, protection, gender equality and women's empowerment.
Excellent analytical, communication, and writing skills including experience in drafting reports and technical guidelines.
Experience in liaising with different counterparts, facilitating consultations, meetings and workshops.
Excellent Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and database software.
Understanding and respect of the mission and core values of UNFPA and active upholding of the United Nations guiding principle. Excellent knowledge of the Russian/Uzbek languages, spoken and written. Proficiency in English is desirable.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Initiative, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members of different national and cultural backgrounds. |
