Purpose of the post
The Regional Delegation of the ICRC is based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and is responsible for the five countries of Central Asia. The FAS program involves engagement with national and international security and non-security actors in encouraging the integration of International Humanitarian Law and other universal humanitarian principles amongst the military, police and other security forces. The FAS Program Assistant will support the Regional FAS Delegate in engaging with Armed and Security Forces and implementation of programs across Central Asia in general and Uzbekistan in particular.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Support contextual analysis on local/regional security situation with particular emphasis on military/ security cooperation, and pattern/trends in relation to protection of civilian population.
* Network, organize and maintain engagement with relevant interlocutors/ offices both national and international in the Region.
* Assist in the implementation of FAS programs in the Region and represent the ICRC in dissemination, training of arms carriers, exercises etc.
* Organize meetings, and events applying relevant administrative and logistics procedures.
* Draft reports, take notes, ensures coherence of database, and carry out interpretation or translation for FAS programs, where required.
* Collect and share information to improve the ICRC's understanding of the environment and humanitarian trends and responses.
* Prepare and monitor budget and expenditure ensuring due diligence. |

Professional requirements |
Desired profile and skills
* Strongly motivated by humanitarian work.
* Prior professional military experience of at least 2 years preferable
* High-school level (if military/police background)
* University Degree (if no military/police background)
* Good command (written and spoken) over English, Uzbek, and Russian.
* Computer proficiency (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
* Prior experience in an international environment will be an asset
