The British Embassy in Uzbekistan is part of the world-wide UK network working on behalf of British political, development, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Security Guard.
Main purpose of job:
The main role is the provision of security services for UK Government personnel and Country Based Staff (CBS) plus official visitors and bono fide guests. Achieved by managing the physical security of the Embassy and the HMA Residence sites and ensuring HMG staff are safe and equipment/items are protected from damage and/or loss. To follow security instructions of the Post Security Manager (PSM), Regional Overseas Security Manager (ROSM), Deputy Head of Mission (DHM) and Ambassador reporting immediately any security matters/incidents that may arise at any of these two compounds.
The role will follow FCDO's established security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Post Security Regulations (PSRs) and agreed security related tasks to ensure a safe and secure environment for UK & CBS staff, official visitors and guests at the Embassy and at the HMA Residence to conduct their duties. The ability to be friendly, firm and polite and offer a service to customers and guests at reception in the Embassy and Residence and are able to follow simple instructions and who can work effectively in a team.
Roles and responsibilities: • Guarding the Embassy and/or the HMA Residence to detect signs of intrusions into the premises by using the security equipment such as CCTV cameras, alarms, x-ray machine, telecommunications and metal detectors to provide a safe and secure working environment and to prevent unauthorised access into the premises. • Conduct regular security patrols/checks around internal perimeter of the Embassy and/or the HMA Residence, ensuring that all suspicious items or incidents are logged and reported immediately to the PSM/ROSM, in order to be investigated in due time. • Report to the PSM/ROSM any incident of potential surveillance against the Embassy and/or the HMA Residence, or its employees, including the use of drones, in order to be investigated in due time. • Control and fully observe the security protocols for the staff and visitors for access into the Embassy and/or the HMA Residence, in order to prevent unauthorised entry or passage of persons and prohibited/suspicious articles. • Dealing with deliveries and to have updated information about daily security issues or official events to be held at the Embassy and/or the HMA Residence, observing the internal security SOPs. • Escort contractors inside the Embassy and/or the HMA Residence compounds whilst carrying out maintenance works as as UK based staff properties. • At the Embassy and HMA Residence, control all vehicle access conducting the mandatory security inspections provided in the SOPs. • Perform and support any other security duties required by the PSM and/or the ROSM, either at the Embassy and/or the HMA Residence. • At the Embassy monitor staff car parking areas. Fully apply policies and guidelines as requested by the Embassy. Perform other security support activities required by the line manager in this position. |

• Secondary Education degree minimum; • At least three years' experience in a security environment • Have knowledge of local legislation and workplace safety • Proven ability to communicate effectively to staff and other external parties including law enforcement agencies and the public. • Proven record of good problem solving skills backed by sound judgement, discretion and diplomacy • Attention to detail is essential • Proficient in Uzbek and Russian, both oral and written; • Positive and engaging verbal and written communication skills, based on principles of honesty and integrity; • Available to travel if required; • Ability to deal with visitors and members of the public politely and fairly; • Ability to analyse problems and come up with workable solutions.
Desirable requirements: • Experience working in multicultural team; • Proficiency in English • Local driving license category B. |

This is a permanent full-time contract (40 hours per week).
The successful candidates will be subject to professional background checks and security clearance.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Uzbekistan are subject to the terms and conditions of service according to local Uzbek employment law.
